Local History Events

The Local History Committee has arranged in recent years an Annual Regional Meeting and an Annual Local History Afternoon. The Regional Meeting takes the form of a field trip to a different part of the County each year and is hosted by one of the local societies. The Local History Afternoon is a very popular Conference and is usually held in Gloucester.

However the Local History Committee is likely to be replaced by a new organisation for Local History in Gloucestershire following the withdrawal of funding by the Gloucestershire Rural Community Council. Progess on the formation of the new organisation can be found by clicking here.

Notices for the events held in 2011 show the type of event it is hoped will be continued sometime in the future. They may be seen by clinking on the links below.

Local Societies:     Diary of Events

Most Societies affiliated to The Local History Committee arrange a programme of events during the winter months. At the present time no amendments or additions to the online Diary of Events are possible. It is hoped that this service will be resumed in due course. For further information please click here.
